STRIPED FLATS DIY

 Today's DIY is a pair of cute and simple flats that started out one way and ended up just a tad fabulous.


I had originally planned to do just all stripes on these flats, but then I decided some gold caps would look super cute and well, it didn't.... so after doing some "capped toe flats" searching on Pinterest I got inspired to fix my gold cap toe with some gold glitter and voila! Happy accident? I would say so!... anyway scroll down.. you'll see! 

First I used painter's tape to mark out my stripes and then I used a mixture of black acrylic paint and mod podge to keep the paint nice and bendable on the shoe. 

It literally took 3 coats to get it that nice solid black color, I was getting tired of painting stripes after the second coat.
 

Here's where the gold paint came in. See? It just is missing something, right? Like it's cute but...eh..?

Then comes the glitterspiration (gliter + inspiration) which just was as simple as mixing chunky glitter with mod podge and podging (?) it on to the part I had painted gold. Also after everything is dry I did one layer of mod podge over the glitter just so I don't leave glitter tracks everywhere and then I gave the whole shoe a nice once over with an acrylic sealer to put the gloss back into the matte paint.

And that's it! They're super cute and totally gilttery and girly. Hope this give you some glitterspiration (haha) xoxo - Hillary
